I would imagine that you would find the most unusual and unique molds there. Probably some giant ones too I would think. Good place to network.

Have you ever been to auctions in general? Kinda, but this is different, right!!?? I used to go to auctions a lot, i had to stop as i was buying to much crap because i was able to get it cheap... Lol. It was almost an addiction. I knew i had to step away when i bid on 6 brand new parking meters...why? Because it was a strange thing to buy! Lol got the lot for 10 bucks ! Lol. Anyway, a word of advise. 1 As you brows the items ahead of the auction, if you see something you like, don't act excited or hover near it for long. That tells others there is something good there. 2 when an item comes up for sale you want don't jump in to fast. Wait till others bid and battle it out. By waiting, it shows less interest and if you wait till just before the hammer drops to place your bid , that way others think your buying just because you can, but dont really need it, and they avoid over bidding you. 3 bid minimums and only minimums over others bids. Sounds like obvious advise but its easy to get sucked into the excitement. Its easy to pay more for something than its worth because one looses focus on its worth. I had some very profitable buys. My favorite was an entire skid of hardware, screws , nails, ect. Hundreds of types and sizes...my price, 10 bucks for the skid. I still have some 20 years later lol Oh, one last thing, have fun, if something gets past you it just wasn't meant to be!

Sound advice right there and exactly why I don't gamble cause I lose my head in the excitement. What did you end up doing with the parking meters movieboy? One in the den I can see if the wife is cool with it, then that leaves 5 left.

I have a spot on the side of my house where my pain in the neck neighbor across the street likes to park. (yes from across the street) I would mount a meter there where he parks and lmao.

One in the den I can see if the wife is cool with it, then that leaves 5 left. The meters were digital and ran on batteries, surprisingly the city has to replace 4 AA batteries each year in them. My thoughts were to turn one into a piggy bank counter but never got around to it. I ended up selling some and giving the rest away. I wish i still had them.

I guess my point of view was why and how, not because it is an auction. I wanted to know the people and the atmosphere, not necessarily bid. Yes i did learn!!! Will try to explain later. Lot of history in just a small amount of time we where there. We meet The Concrete Lady!!! The Boss and her hit it off, both talkers!!! She is 74 and husband 86, i talked to him for about 15 minutes. He was the inside scoop!! Right now it is a seller's market. I will try and expl more later, very cool.

Were many of their molds from big production companies or mainly from smaller sellers like most of us?

I think we only there for less than two hours, but it was non stop meeting and learning. I been knowing some of these people through the Facebook. The main auction is for tough nut concrete people and more. The prices where going hi because concrete and molds are hot items right now!!! Best to make your own. Meet some big vendors, meet concrete lady and her family. Wow just alot of history from all. Short answer would be i guess production type, some as tall as me!!!

In your opinion is it worth paying the associations dues and then auction admission? Do you get anything else out of the deal? Newsletter or even a sticker ?
